Both Councilman Hobson and Mr. Joseph Pritchett urged that a guarantee <br /> <br />"C-l Commercial" zoning of property owned by Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, as further identified <br /> <br />1974 and, thereby, adopted the fallowing ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map to effect a <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted the Planning Commission's report and recommendation dated August 27, <br /> <br />in said ordinance: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meeting assembled this 27th day of August, 1974, that the Zoning Map of the City <br />of Martinsville be, and is hereby, amended to effect a "C-l Commercial" zoning <br />classification for that property owned by Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, and consisting <br />of approximately four acres of land situated on the west side of Rives Road, near <br />the Nationwide Homes Plant property. Said four acres are a part of a 78-acre <br />tract owned by said Evelyn H. Stone, Trustee, seventy-four acres of which were <br />rezoned to "R-9 Residential" by action of City Council on July 9, 1974. <br /> <br />Club requesting permission to operate Bingo Games at the Club's premises in support of <br /> <br />Through Mr. John L. Gregory, Jr., Attorney at Law, Council received a petition from the PL&G <br /> <br />charitable projects sponsored by the Club. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, <br /> <br />Council granted said request, subject to--and in accordance with--applicable statutes and <br /> <br />regulations. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council went into an Executive Session for the <br /> <br />purpose of considering a real estate matter and a staff briefing thereon.
