TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 13, 1973

,-

Meanwhile, Council requested that the City's administration prepare a brief

written resume or commentary on this plan, especially as to any far-reaching

policy matters contained therein and as to its regional concept. Council

concurred in Mayor West's suggestion that Council might defer action on this

plan until other district jurisdictions might have taken action thereon,

inasmuch as the City will be less effected than the other district jurisdictions.

Council unanimously granted permission to Frith Construction Company to connect

property formerly owned by the City as the original sewage disposal plant site

(and subsequently sold by the City to Frith Construction Company) to the City's

Industrial Park water supply system; and, further, Council authorized execution

by appropriate City officials of such contract thereon as might be required

by the City.

Council ordered filed--for consideration in the City's 1974-75 budget year--

a petition requesting curb-and-gutter construction along Dan Lee Terrace.

City Attorney Worthy apprised Council of the forthcoming hearing before the

State Corporation Commission on recent application by Virginia Telephone &

Telegraph Company for telephone service rate increases.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council convened into

an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) receiving and considering a staff

report pertaining to possible reacquisition by the City of its former "City

Shop" property from the County of Henry; (2) to receive and consider a staff

briefing concerning negotiations now in process between the City and the Henry

lE
