TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 21, 1972

...-.

Another bad situation studied was the intersection of Rives Road and Hairston
Street together with the parking along both sides of Circle Court. After
completing our studies of this situation we recommend two things:
1. That signals be placed at this intersection.
2. That all parking be removed from the south side of Circle Court because
of the narrowness of the street.
Mr. McGhee tells us that a new controller is being installed at Forest and
Starling and the old one can be used at Rives Road and Hairston Street. This
would leave only the lights to be purchased.

--

The last matter that we would make a recommendation on at this time has to do
with street cleaning. The City has an ordinance requiring that all cars be
parked off the streets between 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. With cars parked on
the streets after 1:00 A.M. it is almost impossible to properly clean the
streets either by sweeping or washing.

We consider this at some length and concluded that we would recommend that
staning January 1, 1973 that this ordinance be enforced in the Central Business
District (Downtown) and put everyone on notice who lives on a street having
curb and gutter and does not have a driveway that they should think about
constructing one in preparation for the enforcement of this ordinance allover
the City. We hope to bring in a recommendation on this after Sume further study.

We have several other matters under study at this time, however, we are not
prepared to report on these at this meeting. Two of these are:
1. The intersection of Spruce and Parkview.
2. Removal of all parking on Mulberry Road between Rives Road and Spruce.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 P.M.

~A

~c-~<-J;!

Thomas B.
