<br />, )..) <br />: ;c;/ <br /> <br />TUE SDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 14, 1972 <br /> <br />Accordingly, it was moved, seconded and carried unanimously that the Mayor <br /> <br />name a special study committee, and Mayor West named the following: <br /> <br />H. L. Boaz, Vice Mayor, Chairman, City Manager Noland, School <br /> <br />Superintendent John D. Richmond, City Attorney David Worthy, Councilman <br /> <br />Lester and Mr. Reginald Hairston, representing private citizenery. <br /> <br />After hearing a written proposal, supplemented by explanations by the City <br /> <br />Manager and Director of Public Works, Council agreed to accept the offer of <br /> <br />the Church of God, that in return for the Church's deeding to the City a strip <br /> <br />of land approximately 15 feet in width on the north side of Clearview Drive <br /> <br />running eastward from the intersection of Barrows Mill Road and Clearview Drive <br /> <br />for a distance of approximately 300 feet, in consideration of which donation of <br /> <br />right-of-way the City will cause necessary surveys to be made and will install <br /> <br />curb and gutter in conformity with the street alignment farther along the <br /> <br />recently widened and improved Clearview Drive, and the Director of Public Works <br /> <br />was authorized to coordinate the street improvements with the construction <br /> <br />project of the church and that the grading be done so as to provide for the <br /> <br />future installation of a sidewalk. <br /> <br />After consideration of the petition of Mr. Martin Lester that the City rezone, <br /> <br />to C-3 Commercial, a lot at 318 Starling Avenue, being approximately 105 x 150 <br /> <br />feet in size, and located on the northwest side of Starling Avenue and Hairston <br /> <br />Street, on motion made, seconded and duly carried, the petition was referred to <br /> <br />the City Planning Commission for report and recommendation. <br /> <br />After an explanation by the City Manager that in order for Council to have the <br /> <br />opportunity to have an important discussion meeting with a representative of the <br /> <br />State Department of Public Welfare, the schedule of the Regional Director made <br />
