<br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with
<br />
<br />Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, October 25, 1977, in the Council Chamber,
<br />
<br />City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D. Hobson, Mayor;
<br />
<br />William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. Oakes; and Francis T. West.
<br />
<br />After the invocation, Council (upon motion, duly seconded, and unanimously carried) dispensed
<br />
<br />with the reading of the minutes of its meetings held September 27, 1977, September 28, 1977,
<br />
<br />.-

<br />and October 11, 1977, copies of which (minutes) having been mailed to members of Council
<br />
<br />following the October 11th meeting; and, further, Council directed that copies of minutes
<br />
<br />of each meeting in the future be provided members of Council prior to each ensuing meeting
<br />
<br />and (that) such minutes will not be read at each ensuing Council meeting unless Council
<br />
<br />determines otherwise.

<br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the
<br />
<br />petition filed with Council on September 14, 1977, by Bennett & Wilson, Realtors, as agent
<br />
<br />for Mrs. J. W. Booker, Jr., requesting the rezoning of Mrs. Booker's property at 212
<br />
<br />Starling Avenue from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 Professional". By report dated October 21,
<br />
<br />1977, the Planning Commission (having conducted its required public hearing on this matter)
<br />
<br />recommended that the rezoning request be granted; whereupon motion (duly seconded and
<br />
<br />unanimously carried), and there being no objections to this proposed rezoning registered
<br />
<br />by anyone, Council granted said request and, to effect same, adopted the following ordinance
<br />
<br />amending the City's Zoning Map:

<br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia,
<br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-fifth day of October, 1977,
<br />that the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and
<br />is hereby--amended to effect and reflect a "P-2 Professional" zoning
<br />of that property situated at 212 Starling Avenue, and further identified
<br />as the J. W. Booker, Jr., property and owned by Mrs. Claude Clanton
<br />Booker (Mrs. J. W. Booker, Jr.), which property hereby rezoned is more
<br />specifically described on a map on file with the Martinsville Planning
<br />Commission.
