<br />n r""' <br />itd <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 12, 1976 <br /> <br />appreciation of their long tenures on the Board, Mr. Atkins having <br /> <br />completed twenty-six years of membership service and Mr. Hensley having <br /> <br />been a member for over twenty-three years. <br /> <br />At the suggestion of Councilman Greene, Council directed its Clerk to <br /> <br />write a letter to the Honorable Dan Daniel, member of the United States <br /> <br />House of Representatives, expressing Council's appreciation of his interest <br /> <br />and successful efforts, and those of his staff, in obtaining an action <br /> <br />whereby the eligible citizens of Martinsvi11e now may qualify for home <br /> <br />financing assistance through the Farmers Home Administration agency. <br /> <br />Mayor Fitz-Hugh announced that, .because of career opportunities, he is <br /> <br />accepting a promotional transfer to the Virginia Trust Company, Richmond, <br /> <br />Virginia, an affiliate of Virginia National Bank, as of November 1, 1976 <br /> <br />and, therefore, as of October 31, 1976, will terminate his position in <br /> <br />Martinsvi1le as President of Virginia National Bank/Henry County. Accordingly, <br /> <br />Mayor Fitz-Hugh submitted his resignation as Mayor of the City of Martinsvi11e <br /> <br />and as member of its City Council, effective on such date as the Council may <br /> <br />select but no later than October 31, 1976.
