<br />Oakes and West for Councilman West as Mayor, and Councilmen Greene and
<br />
<br />Fitz-Hugh for Councilman Fitz-Hugh as Mayor, with Councilman Hobson abstaining.

<br />Accordingly, no nominee was elected. Upon motion, duly seconded and
<br />
<br />unanimously carried, nominations were again invited for the position of
<br />
<br />Mayor, with Councilman Oakes nominating Councilman West for Mayor, and
<br />
<br />Councilman Greene nominating Councilman Hobson for Mayor. There being no
<br />
<br />other nominations, the recorded vote was Councilmen Oakes and West for
<br />
<br />Councilman West as Mayor, and Councilmen Greene and Hobson for Councilman
<br />
<br />Hobson as Mayor, with Councilman Fitz-Hugh abstaining. Accordingly, no
<br />
<br />nominee was elected. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried,
<br />
<br />nominations were again invited for the position of Mayor, with Councilman
<br />
<br />Oakes nominating Councilman West for Mayor, and Councilman Greene
<br />
<br />nominating Councilman Fitz-Hugh for Mayor. There being no other nominations,
<br />
<br />the recorded vote was Councilmen Oakes and West for Councilman West as
<br />
<br />Mayor, and Councilmen Greene, Hobson, and Fitz-Hugh for Councilman Fitz-Hugh
<br />
<br />as Mayor. Accordingly, Councilman Fitz-Hugh, having received the majority
<br />
<br />of votes, was duly declared Mayor for a two year term beginning September 1,
<br />
<br />1976, and, as Mayor, subscribed to the required oath of office, administered
<br />
<br />by Mr. Clift.
<br />
<br />Mayor Fitz-Hugh then invited nominations for the position of Vice-Mayor and,
<br />
<br />in response, Councilman Oakes nominated Councilman West, and Councilman
<br />
<br />Greene nominated Councilman Hobson. At the request of Councilman West,
<br />
<br />Councilman Oakes withdrew the nomination of Councilman West for this position.
<br />
<br />There being no other nominations, Councilman Hobson was unanimously elected
<br />
