<br />.'> " <br />.l;: .~ <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 2, 1976 <br /> <br />budget requests for 1976-77, noting that the City's share of the proposed <br /> <br />welfare budget will be $180,501.00 as compared with the City's 1975-76 <br /> <br />budgeted cost share of $143,218.00 and with the City's revised 1975-76 <br /> <br />(and estimated) cost share of $121,218.00, with these facts being pointed <br /> <br />out by Councilman Greene through his prepared statement of inquiry dated <br /> <br />June 2, 1976. Meanwhile, it was suggested that the Social Services <br /> <br />Department revise its 1976-77 requests to the extent that the City's cost <br /> <br />share for 1976-77 will be no greater than some $130,000.00. <br /> <br />Concurring with Councilman Fitz-Hugh's suggestion, Council requested <br /> <br />City Manager Noland to prepare a list of additional positions within the <br /> <br />City government necessitated by new State and/or Federal requirements for <br /> <br />the purpose of discussing same with the Honorable Virgil Goode, member <br /> <br />of the Virginia Senate, as soon as can be scheduled with Senator Goode. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council called for a <br /> <br />duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council on the proposed <br /> <br />1976-77 City Budget at Council's forthcoming June 22nd meeting, with a <br /> <br />synopsis of said proposed budget to be made a part of the public notice <br /> <br />of said public hearing, pursuant to Section 15.1-162 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br /> <br />(1950, and as amended). <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />w.
