<br />i -,J "'~J <br /> <br />"V <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 22, 1975 <br /> <br />City Manager Noland informed Council that, as provided in the recently-approved <br /> <br />regional library contract by which Patrick County has become a part of said <br /> <br />regional library (recently named "Blue Ridge Regional Public Library"), i.e., <br /> <br />by the "drawing of names", ~1rs. M. O. Johnson, Hrs. F. V. Woodson, Jr., and <br /> <br />Mr. N. Stewart Miller have been selected for four-year terms on the new Regional <br /> <br />Library Board, and Mrs. R. Denby Lewis and Mr. John W. Swezey for two-year terms <br /> <br />on said Board, all being representative-members from the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland also informed Council that the Patrick Henry Drug Control <br /> <br />Council has withdrawn its recent request for permission to use the City's property <br /> <br />at l20 Brown Street for its office headquarters, having found other office space. <br /> <br />Mr. James L. Carter, City Sheriff, appeared before Council and requested authority <br /> <br />and funds, shared in by the State, to employ two additional personnel for his staff, <br /> <br />i.e., one male and one female, meanwhile citing the need therefor. After some discussion, <br /> <br />Council referred this request to City Manager Noland for study in consultation with <br /> <br />the Sheriff and for recommendation thereon to be submitted at Council's forthcoming <br /> <br />August l2th meeting. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />W. ii~~i'~~n, ~Cierk of Council <br /> <br />,\ <br />
