<br />n,g <br />0' <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27, 1975 <br /> <br />applications for construction in flood hazard locations <br />within the City of Martinsville, Virginia, shall require <br />that any such proposed construction must: <br /> <br />(a) Provide adequate drainage in order to reduce <br />exposure to flood hazards; and <br /> <br />(b) Locate public utilities and facilities on <br />the site in such a manner as to be elevated <br />and constructed to minimize or eliminate flood <br />damage, such utilities and facilities to <br />include sewer, gas, electrical and water <br />systems. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that the appropriate officials <br />of the City of Hartinsville, in reviewing all subdivision applications, <br />shall make findings of fact and determine if: <br /> <br />(a) All such proposed developments are consistent <br />with the need to minimize flood damage; <br /> <br />(b) Adequate drainage is provided so as to reduce <br />exposure to flood hazards; <br /> <br />(c) Adequate drainage is provided so as not to <br />increase the exposure of flood hazards of <br />adjacent lands; and <br /> <br />(d) All public utilities and facilities are <br />located and constructed so as to minimize or <br />eliminate flood damage, these utilities and <br />facilities to include sewer, gas, electrical <br />and water systems. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland reported that the City is a co-sponsor in the forthcoming <br /> <br />bloodmobile visit and, also, that operational records of the City-operated <br /> <br />public bus (transit) system will be made available in the near future. <br /> <br />Upon inquiry, Council was advised that the next pre-application deadline for <br /> <br />Housing & Community Development Act funds is by September, 1975, and that <br /> <br />perhaps some recovery therefrom may be made for a portion of the City's cost <br />
