<br />October 24, 2006 <br /> <br />the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4-0. Yeas (4) - Reynolds, <br /> <br /> <br />Clark, Anderson, Lawson. Nays (0) - None. Abstain (1) - Ferrill. <br /> <br />Council considered approvmg the City's Legislative priorities for 2007. <br /> <br />Matthew Hankins, Communications Manager, presented one amendment to the <br /> <br />language relating to an early retirement incentive and asked Council to approve <br /> <br /> <br />the lists so he can distribute to our legislators prior to a special-called Council <br /> <br /> <br />meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. At the <br /> <br /> <br />present time, Senator Roscoe Reynolds and Delegate Ward Armstrong have <br /> <br />indicated that can attend said meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds then recognized Max Kendall of Henry County, who <br /> <br /> <br />made a presentation on an alternate route for 1-73, which he designed himself. <br /> <br /> <br />After some questions and discussion, the Mayor thanked Mr. Kendall for <br /> <br />attending the meeting and asked the City Manager to contact someone from <br /> <br />VDOT to attend a Council work session to explain and answer questions <br /> <br />concerning the current route. Council Member Ferrill then made a motion to <br /> <br /> <br />adopt the City's legislative priorities for 2007 as presented; the motion was <br /> <br /> <br />duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote <br /> <br /> <br />5-0. Yeas (5) - Reynolds, Clark, Anderson, Ferrill, Lawson. Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br />Council considered approval of an option to renovate the lower level of <br /> <br />the Municipal Building to create additional space for the Commonwealth's <br /> <br />Attorney and the J & D Court.
