<br />-, FR <br />u' l. <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 11, 1980 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Barry A. Greene presiding, was held Tuesday, November <br /> <br />11, 1980, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., Barry A. Greene, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; L. D. Oakes; Henry C. Reed; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />Following the invocation, Mayor Greene--on behalf of Council--presented awards <br /> <br />to those City School bus drivers who have achieved safe driving records during <br /> <br />the last two-to-nine years. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved--as <br /> <br />recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held October 14, 1980 (there having <br /> <br />been no meeting for the scheduled date of October 28, 1980). <br /> <br />At the request of the Martinsville-Henry County Woman's Club, represented <br /> <br />by Mrs. Mary Alice Sherrard, President, Council unanimously adopted the <br /> <br />following resolution in support of this club's efforts to obtain for the <br /> <br />Martinsville area a privately-funded "End Stage Renal Disease Facility": <br /> <br />WHEREAS, persons suffering from renal disease and requiring dialysis <br />treatment must bear a heavy financial and physical burden; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an appreciable number of such persons reside in the Martinsville <br />area and are presently without the immediate availability of an end stage <br />renal disease facility; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such persons would be better served by a local facility <br />currently being proposed as a satellite of the Danville Urologic Clinic <br />and for which a Certificate of Need is being sought; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proposed facility is being actively supported and assisted <br />by the Martinsville-Henry County Woman's Club, as a community project; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled, as follows: <br />
