<br />'"'" ;r <br /> <br />'r' ..c..: <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 8, 1980 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, April 8, 1980, in the Council <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D. <br /> <br />Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. Oakes; and <br /> <br />Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved the minutes--as recorded--of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held March 25, 1980, with the understanding that the word "permanently" will <br /> <br />be inserted in the third line from the end of page 343 of these minutes in order <br /> <br />that "......short of effecting Mr. Brown's suggestion......" will read "......short <br /> <br />of permanently effecting Mr. Brown's suggestion......". <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommended amendments and/or revisions to the City's Zoning <br /> <br />Ordinance, as presented to Council at Council's March lIth meeting. There being no <br /> <br />objections to these proposed amendments and/or revisions, Council unanimously adopted <br /> <br />an ordinance, by reference, effecting these amendments and/or revisions which establishes <br /> <br />the following, with the details thereof incorporated in said ordinance: <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />(1) A Central Business District zone; <br />(2) A Residential-Professional zone; <br />(3) Uses for the two foregoing zones; <br />(4) Changes and/or additions in regulations for apartments; and <br />(5) Changes and/or additions in regulations for service stations. <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration requests for the joint usage of the former <br /> <br />West End School, presently used by the City's Day Care Center (but said Day Care Center <br /> <br />to be discontinued as of June 30, 1980), by the W. C. Ham Learning Center and the Patrick <br />
