(' . <br />)uU <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 13, 1979 <br /> <br />forthcoming December lIth meeting, would request the 1980 Virginia General Assembly <br /> <br />to amend Chapter II of the Martinsville City Charter for the purpose set forth <br /> <br />in said resolution: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session held on the 13th day of November, 1979, that it <br />requests the Virginia General Assembly to amend the Charter of the <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia, by adding to Section 3 of Chapter 11 <br />thereof the following sentence: <br /> <br />In case of a bond issue for hydro-electric projects, <br />the life of the facility may be deemed to be as long <br />as fifty (50) years. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that a public hearing shall <br />be held, at which citizens of Martinsville shall have the opportunity <br />to be heard, to determine if said citizens desire the Council to <br />request the General Assembly to enact the foregoing amendment; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said Council that at least ten (10) days' <br />notice of the time and place of such public hearing, and the text <br />of the foregoing amendment, shall be published in a newspaper of <br />general circulation in the City of Martinsville. <br /> <br />Council unanimously agreed to forego its regular semi-monthly meeting scheduled for <br /> <br />November 27th, inasmuch as a majority of its members will be away from the City at that <br /> <br />time, and--in lieu thereof--agreed to meet with the Henry County Board of Supervisors, <br /> <br />at the Henry County Administration Building, on Monday, November 19th, beginning at <br /> <br />7:30 P.M., for the purposes of (I) receiving and considering a report from the two <br /> <br />bodies' special committee considering computer-data processing needs for these two <br /> <br />governmental units and the committee's recommendation from its evaluation of various <br /> <br />bids recently received therefor; and (2) to consider a proposed contract and/or agreement <br /> <br />between the City and the County of Henry (and/or the Henry County Public Service Authority) <br /> <br />regarding the two jurisdictions' water service supply and needs. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously recorded, and pursuant to Subsection (6) of <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), Council convened into an <br />
