<br />" r <br /> <br />JANUARY 23, 1979 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />----- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council reappointed Mrs. John L. <br /> <br />Manson and Mr. Curtis F. Bouldin to membership on the Board of Directors of The Piedmont <br /> <br />Seniors of Virginia, Inc., for three-year terms to begin at the forthcoming February <br /> <br />expiration of their current terms. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendation, <br /> <br />a petition filed on behalf of Axton Investment Corporation by Mr. Benjamin R. Gardner, <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Attorney at Law and counsel for petitioner, seeking an "M-l" zoning of petitioner's <br /> <br />property, consisting of five lots, situated on the northwest side of Memorial Boulevard <br /> <br />(North), beyond premises presently occupied by Jordan's Office Supply. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried (by a recorded vote), Council convened <br /> <br />into an Executive Session for the purpose of considering the acquisition and/or disposition <br /> <br />of real estate. Upon reconvening into its regular session, Council announced that <br /> <br />consideration had been given to the matter but no action is now required. <br /> <br />City Manager Noland called Council's attention to the special meeting scheduled for Council <br /> <br />on Tuesday, February 13, 1979, beginning at 3:00 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />for the purpose of conferring with Mr. Walter Craigie, Jr., Executive Vice President of <br /> <br />Wheat First Securities, Inc., and with Mr. Craigie's associates, on the City's proposed <br /> <br />hydro-electric ("Ridgeway") project and the financing thereof. <br /> <br />Council was informed that the House of Delegates of the 1979 Virginia General Assembly session <br /> <br />has passed the "Electric Authorities" bill as introduced, but with some revisions and/or <br /> <br />amendments thereto. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />Clerk of Council <br />
