Historic Preservation Plan <br /> <br />De\'(~lop a Historic Prcscrvation Plan to implcment the goals and objectives of the new <br />Comprehensive Plan by March 2007. . . <br /> <br />C. Historic District Ordinance <br /> <br />Revise the Zoning Ordinance and Historic District Guidelines to clarify policies and <br />procedures, particularly as they relate to new construction by June 2007. <br /> <br />D. Entrances to the City <br /> <br />Develop a program, by October 2006, to enhance the city's entrances and ensure that <br />those gateways are maintained in a way that creates an inviting look to our city. <br />Construct or replace "City ofMar1insvillc" \\clcome signs ifneeded. In addition, <br />complete 20% of the developed program, subject to available funding, by June 2007. <br /> <br />The major "gateways" are defined as: <br /> <br />· US 220 Business NorthlBridge over the Smith River <br />· Route I 08/Liberty Street <br />· Highway 58 East & Route 57/Chatham Road <br />· Commonwealth Blvd. <br />· West Church Street corridor/Koehler Bottom <br />· US220 Business South/Memorial Boulevard at Commonwealth Blvd <br />· Route 650/Spruce Street <br /> <br />E. Purchase of Open Spaces <br /> <br />Pursue acquisition of open space and land, either through purchase of ownership or <br />development rights, per the updated Comprehensive Plan, whenever availability, price <br />and. budget capacity align. <br /> <br />6 <br />
