~

A.

TUESDAY

APRIL 11, 1978

Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendation,

an application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed jointly by Mrs. May F. Schottland and

the West Piedmont Planning District Commission, which permit, if issued, would enable the

Commission to establish its permanent headquarters in property owned by Mrs. Schottland

and located at One Starling Avenue, which property the Commission has contracted to

purchase from Mrs. Schott1and.

-

Council also referred to the Planning Commission a matter brought to Council's attention

by Mr. Ronald E. James, County Planner for the County of Henry, in which Mr. James

suggested that the City might be interested because of certain concepts being incorporated

in a Housing Assistance Plan already developed for Henry County and a Land-Use Plan being

prepared for Henry County. Mr. James also suggested that the City might wish to lend its

endorsement to these plans and, thereby, "open more doors toward obtaining Federal grants".

Council, too, referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendations,

the following three petitions:

.-

(1) a request from Mr. Milton B. Collinsworth, of 39 Sunset Drive,
for City water service at Lots Nos. 64 & 65, Sunset Drive,
outside the City and off Chatham Heights, on which lots
Mr. Collinsworth proposes to build a residence;
(2) a request for water and sewer service, filed by the Golden
Corral Corporation, for a location on U. S. Route 220 North,
near Commonwealth Boulevard, outside the City, where
applicant proposes to construct and operate a Golden Corral
Family Steak House; and
(3) a request for additional water service, as filed by Frith
Construction Company, for property indentified as the
Pannill Shipping Center and located within the City's
Industrial Park.

Upon request of City Manager Noland, Council unanimously authorized the replacement of an

Electric Department truck (chassis), at a cost of $5,800.00-$6,000.00, to be financed by

a transfer of necessary funds within the Electric Department's 1977-78 budget.
