.4 TUESDAY DECEMBER 14, 1982 somewhat of a token tax or considerably less than the State-mandated ceiling, as proposed. After some discussion by members of Council, Council continued consideration of the pro- posed license tax ordinance to its forthcoming January 11th meeting, with the exception of the alcoholic beverage section which Council unanimously adopted as an ordinance amending Section 2 of Chapter II of the current license tax ordinance, which amending ordinance follows: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, in regular meeting assembled, that Section 2 of Chapter II of the License Tax Ordinance (1970) of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: 2. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. Every person, firm or corporation licensed by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission to manufacture, bottle or sell alcoholic beverages within the City of Martinsville shall pay a license tax for any of the following licenses required by such person, firm or corporation: (a) For each distiller's license, $1,000.00 per annum; (b) For each winery license, $1,000.00 per annum; (c) For each brewery license, $1,000.00 per annum; (d) For each bottler's license, $500.00 per annum; (e) For each wholesale beer license, $250.00 per annum; (f) For each wholesale wine distributor's license, $50.00 per annum; Cg) For each retail on-premises wine and beer license for a hotel, restaurant or club, and for each retail off-premises wine and beer license, including each specialty shop and convenience grocery store license, $150.00 per annum; (h) For each retail on-premises beer license for a hotel, restaurant or club and for each retail off-premises beer license, $100.00 per annum; (i) For each fruit distiller's license, $1,500.00 per annum. All licenses issued under this paragraph shall expire on the 31st of December of the year in which the same are issued, and all such licenses shall be proratable as to any license issued for less than i full year. Any person licensed hereunder shall, nevertheless, be liable for any additional license tax which may be imposed under other provisions of this ordinance measured on gross receipts, or otherwise. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect on and after January 1, 1983.
