<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 23, 1982 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, and in accordance with the <br /> <br />recommendations of the City's current auditor, Council authorized and directed the <br /> <br />writing off (from the City's accounts receivables accounts) of the following fund <br /> <br />amounts of delinquent utility accounts, which amounts were as of March 3, 1982: <br /> <br />General Fund . <br />Electric Fund <br />Water Fund <br />Sewer Fund . . <br /> <br />. . $ 24,063.67 <br />190,754.68 <br />22,561.39 <br />32,899. 93 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />1~r2b~r2;~r <br /> <br />In response to a recent inquiry from the Virginia Municipal League, Council re- <br /> <br />nominated present City officials for membership on the various VML Policy Committees <br /> <br />on which they have been serving, with the exception of membership on the VML's <br /> <br />Effective Government Policy Committee, wherein Council nominated Councilman Oakes <br /> <br />for membership on this committee to replace Mayor Greene, who chose not to be a <br /> <br />candidate for re-election to Council at the forthcoming May 4th councilmanic <br /> <br />election. <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds reported that Sidney's Properties, Inc., has voluntarily paid <br /> <br />its Streetscape assessment in the amount of $1,127.00; accordingly, Council cancelled <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />its February 23rd authorization to institute legal proceedings to enforce collection <br /> <br />of this amount. <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds also reported that the Virginia Municipal Electric Power <br /> <br />Association (i.e., MEPAV), having failed in its recent efforts to get the Virginia <br /> <br />General Assembly to eliminate the statutory referendum requirement for creating an <br /> <br />electric authority, now proposes to form an authority through a series of local <br /> <br />referenda, which proposal (in the opinion of the City's Delectric Department Director, <br />
