'cc' ' ,) .~1'.,'1r-,.1 TUESDAY MARCH 23, 1982 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Barry A. Greene presiding, was held Tuesday, March 23, 1982, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Barry A. Greene. Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; L. D. Oakes; Henry C. Reed; and Francis T. West. After the invocation. Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held March 9, 1982. Honoring the boys basketball team of Martinsville Senior High School and its coach, Robert C. ("Husky") Hall, all of whom were present at this meeting, Council unanimously adopted resolutions in recognition of their having recently won the State Class AA boys basketball championship. Council also extended its congratulations to the Drewy Mason boys basketball team in recognition of their recently having won the State Class A boys basketball championship. Having received from the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad certain supplemental information requested by Council at its March 9th meeting, and having been informed that this organization's 1982-83 budget request has been reduced from approximately $8,000.00 to $5,346.00, Council unanimously appropriated from General Fund surplus the sum of $6,850.00, and directed the contltibutdon of same to the squad. for the purpose of funding the purchase of defibulator equipment (Life Pack 5), as requested at Council's March 9th meeting. Mr. Frank Dubar. Project Manager, of R. W. Beck & Associates, consulting engineers for the City's proposed Ridgeway hydro-electric project, appeared before Council and pre- sented a number of exhibits which are a part of the license application being filed (on March 26, 1982) on behalf of the City and this project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, processing by this commission of the application estimated to
