<br />'cc' ' ,) <br />.~1'.,'1r-,.1 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 23, 1982 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor Barry A. Greene presiding, was held Tuesday, March 23, 1982, in the Council <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Barry A. <br /> <br />Greene. Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; L. D. Oakes; Henry C. Reed; and <br /> <br />Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation. Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held March 9, 1982. <br /> <br />Honoring the boys basketball team of Martinsville Senior High School and its coach, <br /> <br />Robert C. ("Husky") Hall, all of whom were present at this meeting, Council unanimously <br /> <br />adopted resolutions in recognition of their having recently won the State Class AA boys <br /> <br />basketball championship. Council also extended its congratulations to the Drewy Mason <br /> <br />boys basketball team in recognition of their recently having won the State Class A <br /> <br />boys basketball championship. <br /> <br />Having received from the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad certain supplemental <br /> <br />information requested by Council at its March 9th meeting, and having been informed <br /> <br />that this organization's 1982-83 budget request has been reduced from approximately <br /> <br />$8,000.00 to $5,346.00, Council unanimously appropriated from General Fund surplus <br /> <br />the sum of $6,850.00, and directed the contltibutdon of same to the squad. for the <br /> <br />purpose of funding the purchase of defibulator equipment (Life Pack 5), as requested <br /> <br />at Council's March 9th meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Frank Dubar. Project Manager, of R. W. Beck & Associates, consulting engineers for <br /> <br />the City's proposed Ridgeway hydro-electric project, appeared before Council and pre- <br /> <br />sented a number of exhibits which are a part of the license application being filed <br /> <br />(on March 26, 1982) on behalf of the City and this project with the Federal Energy <br /> <br />Regulatory Commission, processing by this commission of the application estimated to <br />
