<br />'~_, :1 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Sec. 3-9. <br /> <br />(e) <br /> <br />(f) <br /> <br />(g) <br /> <br />JANUARY 12. 1982 <br /> <br />If a dog license shall become lost, destroyed, <br />or stolen, the owner or custodian of the dog <br />shall at once apply to the treasurer for a <br />duplicate license tag, presenting the original <br />receipt. Upon affidavit of the owner or cus- <br />todian before the treasurer that the original <br />license tag has been lost, destroyed, or stolen, <br />the treasurer shall issue a duplicate license tag <br />which the owner or custodian shall immediately <br />affix to the collar of the dog. The treasurer <br />shall endorse the number of the duplicate and the <br />date issued on the face of the original license <br />receipt. The fee for a duplicate tag for any dog <br />shall be one dollar. <br /> <br />Any dog not wearing a collar bearing a license tag <br />of the proper calendar year shall prima facie be <br />deemed to be unlicensed and in any proceeding <br />brought against the dog's owner or custodian the <br />burden of going forward with proof of the fact <br />that such dog has been licensed, or is otherwise <br />not required to bear a tag at the time, shall be <br />on the owner or custodian of the dog. <br /> <br />It shall constitute a Class 4 misdemeanor for any <br />person to make a false statement in order to secure <br />a dog license to which he is not entitled, for any <br />dog owner or custodian to fail to pay the license <br />tax required by this section before February first <br />for the year in which it is due, or for any person <br />to violate any other provixion of this section. <br /> <br />(h) <br /> <br />Payment of the license tax subsequent to a charge <br />to appear before a court for failure to do so within <br />the time required shall not operate to relieve the <br />owner or custodian of the penalties provided. <br /> <br />Footnote: <br /> <br />6a.
