~ .~
t..~

TUESDAY

NOVEMBER 24, 1981

Councilman Reed, reporting that many citizens apparently are uncertain as to whether the

City's present voluntary water conservation measures remain in effect, suggested that--in

view of the foregoing reports from City Manager Edmonds--Council reiterate its appeal for

voluntary water conservation.

Vice Mayor Cole, noting that property tax notices recently mailed do not reflect the
extension of the due date therefor (from December 5th to December 21st) authorized by
Council on November 10th, urged that appropriate publicity be given thereto.

In response to an inquiry from Councilman Oakes concerning the separate mailings of

personal property tax notices and real estate tax notices due December 21st, Council was
informed that this was not the City's usual practice but resulted from a combination of

circumstances, such as unavoidable delays in receiving the real estate tax forms and the

computer programming for the real estate tax billing, over which the City had no control.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, and pursuant to

Section 2.1-344(a)(6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), Council convened

into an Executive Session to receive and consider briefings on certain legal matters.

Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action on any of these matters.

Council was adjourned.

<. ~{, _ >'~~_:_~.i.~1 _~. , _ .

W.
