';.1 u :t TUESDAY MAY 26, 1981 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor Barry A. Greene presiding, was held Tuesday, May 26, 1981, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Barry A. Greene, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; L. D. Oakes; Henry C. Reed; and Francis T. West. After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held May 12, 1981; and City Manager Edmonds introduced to members of Council Mr. Richard D. Fitts, who will become employed by the City on June 1, 1981 and will succeed W. H. Yeaman, who will retire on June 30, 1981, as Finance Director on July 1, 1981. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following resolution by which the City will become a participant-member of the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy and Vice-Mayor Cole and Police Chief Terry L. Roop will represent the City on the Academy's Board of Directors, effective July 1, 1981: BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-sixth day of May, 1981, that (1) The City of Martinsville desires to become a member of the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy for the purpose of training the City's law enforcement and correctional officers, effective July 1, 1981; and (2) William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor and Councilman for the City of Martinsville, and Terry L. Roop, the City's Chief of Police, are hereby appointed to serve as the City of Martinsville's representatives on the Board of Directors of the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy. Also upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the execution of an agreement by City Manager Edmonds with the Office of Emergency and Energy Services of the Commonwealth of Virginia in support of the Virginia
