<br />t~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 11, 1983 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by a unanimous and recorded vote, and pursuant to Sections <br /> <br />2.1-344(a)(1) and 2.1-344(a)(2) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), Council <br /> <br />convened into an Executive Session for the following purposes: <br /> <br />A. To consider the possible disposal of publicly-held property; <br /> <br />B. To consider making appointments and/or reappointments to various <br />boards and commissions; and <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />C. To consider the proposed purchase of certain real property for <br />public purposes. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action pertaining to items "A" <br /> <br />and "C" hereinabove (i.e., the possible disposal and/or acquisition of property) but, <br /> <br />upon motions (duly seconded and unanimously carried), took the following actions with <br /> <br />regard to appointments and/or reappointments to various boards and commissions: <br /> <br />1. Appointed Mr. Brent A. Westwood to membership on the <br />Martinsville-Henry County Clean Community Commission for <br />a term ending March 31, 1985; <br /> <br />2. Accepted with regrets the resignation of Mrs. Helen S. <br />Barnes as a member of the City's Welfare Board, effective <br />October 31, 1983, and directed that a letter of appreciation <br />be directed to Mrs. Barnes for her years of service to this <br />Board, and more recently, as its Chairman; and <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />3. Appointed Mr. Joseph M. Vicars to succeed Mrs. Barnes as a <br />member of the Welfare Board, being for Mrs. Barnes' unexpired <br />term beginning November 1, 1983, and ending June 30, 1985. <br /> <br />Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />) <br />L"" <br />W.
