<br />11 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 14, 1983 <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, June 14, 1983, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members--with the exception of <br /> <br />Councilman Francis T. West, who was away from the city--being present, viz., William C. <br /> <br />Cole, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Henry C. Reed; and Eliza H. Severt. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />After the invocation and Mayor Cole's welcome to visitors present, Council approved-- <br /> <br />as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held May 24, 1983. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a <br /> <br />petition filed on behalf of Mrs. Maria Pannill Read by Mr. J. Wayne Hill, Realtor, <br /> <br />seeking a rezoning of Mrs. Read's property at 110 Starling Avenue from "R-6 Residential" <br /> <br />to "P-2 Professional". There being no persons present registering any opposition to <br /> <br />this petition or proposed rezoning, Mayor Cole declared the public hearing closed; <br /> <br />whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's previously-submitted recommendation that the petition be approved and <br /> <br />effected the requested rezoning by adopting the following ordinance amending the City's <br /> <br />Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of June, 1983, that <br />the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is <br />hereby-_amended to reclassify from "R-6 Residential" to "P_2 <br />Professional" that certain property located at 110 Starling Avenue <br />and identified as Lot No.9, Section 33, of the Tax Map of the <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia. <br /> <br />An emergency existing, this ordinance shall be in force on and after <br />June 14, 1983. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />resolution approving the issuance by the City's Industrial Development Authority of <br />
