<br />4~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 11, 1984 <br /> <br />reconvened into regular session to restate the purpose and the applicable State Code <br /> <br />section, whereupon motion, duly seconded and by a recorded vote, with Councilman <br /> <br />Groden and Oakes voting against the motion, by a vote of three-to-two Council again <br /> <br />convened into an Executive Session, pursuant to State Code section 2-1.344, for the <br /> <br />following purposes: <br /> <br />A. To consider a personnel matter; <br /> <br />B. To consider the possible disposal of certain City-owned <br />real property; <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />C. To consider nominees for appointment to the West Pied- <br />mont Planning District Commission's newly-formed <br />Technical Advisory Committee; <br /> <br />D. To consider nominees for appointment and/or reappointment <br />to the City's Transportation Safety Commission; and <br /> <br />E. To consider certain legal matters within the Council's <br />jurisdiction. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Executive Session, Council reconvened into regular session <br /> <br />in which it took the following actions on the matters considered in Executive Session: <br /> <br />A. Unanimously appointed Mr. George B. Adams, Jr., as the City's <br />one representative to the WPPDC's Technical Advisory Committee <br />for a three-year term ending December 31, 1987; <br /> <br />B. Unanimously appointed Miss Trudy A. Williams as the City's one <br />alternate representative to said advisory committee for a two- <br />year term ending December 31, 1986; <br /> <br />C. Unanimously nominated Mrs. Marguerite W. Wilson for appoint- <br />ment by the WPPDC as an at-large representative to said com- <br />mittee for a three-year term ending December 31, 1987; <br /> <br />D. Reappointed Mrs. Mary Jane Cragun and Messrs. David H. Chittum, <br />Dennis W. Hammack, and Irving R. McGhee to the City's Transport- <br />ation Safety Commission for four-year terms beginning January 1, <br />1985, and ending December 31, 1988; and <br /> <br />E. Issued the following statement, reflecting Council's unanimous <br />decision to transfer the responsibility for the collection of all <br />City monies from the City Treasurer to the Department of Finance; <br /> <br />The City administration has developed a plan to improve <br />efficiency and effect savings in the collection of City <br />monies. Accordingly, the Council proposes to initiate <br />procedures to seek the Virginia General Assembly's <br />
