<br />360 <br /> <br />JUNE 12, 1984 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsvi1le, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, June 12, 1984, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were present, <br /> <br />as follows: William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; L. D. Oakes, Vice-Mayor; Henry C. Reed; Eliza <br /> <br />H. Severt; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome to visitors present, Council <br /> <br />approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held May 21, 1984. <br /> <br />In tentative acceptance of the Planning Commission's May 25th recommendation that Section <br /> <br />X ("Signs") of the City's Zoning Ordinance be amended, as to regulations regarding tem- <br /> <br />porary signs and displays, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be con- <br /> <br />ducted on the proposed amendment(s) at Council's forthcoming June 26th meeting. <br /> <br />In writing and in person, Mr. R. L. Fisher, of Industrial Insurance Management Corporation <br /> <br />(the City's insurance consultant), presented an analysis of bids recently received (in <br /> <br />response to invitations to bid) for the City's property and casualty insurance coverages <br /> <br />for the year beginning July 1, 1984, as well as his recommendations thereon, which recom- <br /> <br />mendations for placement thereof Council unanimously accepted, as follows, with limits <br /> <br />and premium costs as quoted: <br /> <br />A. Workers' Compensation -- to be continued through <br />the Virginia Municipal League; <br /> <br />B. Boiler & Machinery -- to be continued with Arkwright- <br />Boston (through Hobbs-Brooks Agency); and <br /> <br />C. Property & Liability -- to be placed with Alexander & <br />Alexander. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, and in accordance with statutory requirements, <br />
