<br />:31 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 10, 1984 <br /> <br />amendment to the existing agreement, executed by both parties, to fully <br />address all terms and conditions of cost-sharing and operation of the <br />improvements in question and prior to the actual construction of such <br />improvements. This letter of request is intended primarily to expedite <br />the preparation of detailed plans and specifications for the diversion <br />facilities, subject to finalizing a new agreement or amendment to the <br />present agreement. The City is committed unconditionally to pay its <br />share of such plans and specifications. <br /> <br />In view of the pressing need for expanded capacity in wastewater treat- <br />ment, we would respectfully request consideration of this proposal by <br />your Board at its next meeting and a response within thirty days of the <br />date of this letter. <br /> <br />In response to the West Piedmont Planning District Commission's March 28th inquiry per- <br /> <br />taining to regional priorities for the Virginia Community Block Grant Program for fiscal <br /> <br />year '84, Council unanimously indicated that the rehabilitation of owner-occupied <br /> <br />housing should be included in the Commission's list of regional priorities (under Pro- <br /> <br />ject Type #9, Housing Rehabilitation, VCDBG Program Design). <br /> <br />Council scheduled the first of two "work-sessions" on City Manager Edmonds' recom- <br /> <br />mended City Budget for 1984-85, the first of these being set for Thursday, April 26th, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, beginning at 2:00 P.M., and the second one being set (for con- <br /> <br />sideration of the City School Board's proposed 1984-85 budget, as well as perhaps other <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />sections of the City budget) for Monday, April 30th, in the Council Chamber, beginning <br /> <br />at 2:00 P.M. <br /> <br />At Vice-Mayor Oakes' suggestion, Council unanimously extended its congratulations (by <br /> <br />letters from the Clerk of Council) to the Martinsville Senior High School Boys Basket- <br /> <br />ball Team for having been "runner-up" in the finals this past season for the State <br /> <br />Championship among Virginia Group AA high schools, and to the Drewry Mason High School <br /> <br />Boys Basketball Team for having won the 1983-84 State Championship (this marking three <br />
