<br />~86 <br /> <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1985 <br /> <br />be owned by separate landlords. <br /> <br />By written report dated December 4, 1985, City Manager Brown informed Council of <br /> <br />amendments enacted November 13, 1985, to the Fair Labor Standards Act resulting <br /> <br />in a postponing of the effective date for compliance with overtime provisions to <br /> <br />April 15, 1986, and the payment of overtime deferred until August 1, 1986, plus <br /> <br />an easing of restrictions regarding compensatory time (how determined, how cal- <br /> <br />culated, and when payment is required). City Manager Brown also noted that any <br /> <br />funds remaining at June 30, 1986, from those appropriated November 12, 1985, for <br /> <br />Fire Department and Prison Farm Division personnel, will revert to General Fund <br /> <br />surplus and that after 1985-86 the annual overtime payments are projected at <br /> <br />$3,000.00 and $3,500.00, respectively. <br /> <br />City Manager Brown also reported that 251 City employees have contributed or <br /> <br />pledged the total sum of $4,435.00 (against a $5,000.00 goal) to the recently- <br /> <br />conducted United Way campaign and that there was 100% participation by the em- <br /> <br />ployees of the Finance Department, the Electric Department, Housing Services, and <br /> <br />the offices of the Commissioner of the Revenue, the City Treasurer, and the Clerk <br /> <br />of the City Circuit Court. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and <br /> <br />as amended) and subsections (a)(2) and (a)(6) thereof, and upon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Execu- <br /> <br />tive Session for the purposes of (1) considering the possible disposal of certain <br /> <br />City-owned real estate and (2) a contractual matter in consultation with City <br /> <br />Attorney Worthy. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action on <br /> <br />either of these two matters. <br />
