<br />1\.~8 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1985 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, Septem- <br /> <br />ber 10, 1985, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present, viz., William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice- <br /> <br />Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; L. D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />Following the invocation by Councilman Groden and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome <br /> <br />to visitors present, with a special welcome being extended to Boy Scouts present <br /> <br />from Troop 61 (and their Troop Leader, Mr. "Buck" Kester), Council unanimously <br /> <br />approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held August 27, 1985. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />Ms. Pauline Lawson's recently-filed petition seeking the rezoning from "R-6 Resi- <br /> <br />dential" to "P-2 Professional" that certain property indentified as Lot No. 10 <br /> <br />and located at 311 Brown Street. Representing petitioner was Mr. Philip G. Gard- <br /> <br />ner, Attorney at Law. There being no objections registered to this petition, <br /> <br />Mayor Cole declared this public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded <br /> <br />and unanimously carried, Council accepted the Planning Commission's recommendation <br /> <br />that petition be granted and, in so dOing, unanimously adopted the following ordi- <br /> <br />nance effecting said "P-2 Professional" zoning and amending the City's Zoning Map <br /> <br />accordingly: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this tenth day of September, 1985, that <br />the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be--and is <br />hereby--amended to the extent that Lot No. 10, situated at 311 Brown <br />Street, is hereby rezoned from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 Professional". <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after September 11, 1985. <br />
