.- ~.

139

TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1985

,,-

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of

Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was

held Tuesday, August 27, 1985, in the Council Chamber, City Hall,

beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, as follows: William C.

Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; L. D.

Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams.

After the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome to visitors present,

Council unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held

August 13, 1985, as submitted.

There being no business from the floor, Mayor Cole proceeded with the

prepared agenda.

Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public

hearing for the purpose of amending the City's 1985-86 Budget. Noting

there was no one present to speak against these amendments, the Mayor

declared the public hearing closed. Upon motion by Councilman Williams,

seconded

by

Vice-Mayor

Severt

and

unanimously carried, Council

appropriated $13,000 to Data Processing for a Computer Programmer in the

General Fund and $8,000 to Maintenance for PCB disposal in the Electric

Fund.
