<br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1986 <br /> <br />Piedmont Trust Bank is concerned. After some discussion, upon motion (duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried), Council directed City Manager Brown to <br /> <br />develop agreements with the City's financial and legal advisors and to develop <br /> <br />an "RFP" (Request for Proposal) to be forwarded to local banking institutions <br /> <br />for Council's consideration at its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Council agreed to conduct its annual tour of City facilities on Friday, <br /> <br />November 7, 1986, beginning at 12 noon at the City's Prison Farm. <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the first of monthly financial statements (in <br /> <br />the form of fund balances, excluding fixed assets) which the City's Finance <br /> <br />Department prepared and will be preparing in addition to the more detailed <br /> <br />quarterly financial reports. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged, with appreciation, Mr. Bruce Dallas' complimentary <br /> <br />remarks concerning the recent resurfacing by the City of the West portion of <br /> <br />Fayet te Street. <br /> <br />The following represents a summary of several comments and suggestions offered <br /> <br />and/or inquiries posed by various members of Council: <br /> <br />.,- <br /> <br />1. By Councilman McClain -- as to the estimated cost of updating the <br />City's 1977 Transit Study (estimated by City Manager Brown to <br />cost $10,000.00); and, as to a schedule and need for installing <br />street-name signs at intersections along the recently-completed <br />Mulberry Road (Extension) Project; <br /> <br />2. By Vice-Mayor Williams -- on unsightly and/or unsafe conditions <br />at certain vacant lots within the City and as to the City's <br />recourse to abate these conditions; and <br /> <br />3. By Mayor Oakes -- commending persons involved in recently <br />bringing to the City a meeting of the Virginia State Chamber of <br />Commerce; on need to increase sight distance at the intersection <br />of Moss Street and Mulberry Road Extension; and on the prepara- <br />tion (in process) of a new cable franchise, to replace the <br />present cable franchise soon to expire. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />397 <br />
