<br />--- <br /> <br />TUESDAY~ JULY 22, 1986 <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />Pursuant to Councilman Groden's recent request, concurred with by other members <br /> <br />of Council, City Manager Brown presented two written reports (under dates of <br /> <br />July 15th and July 22nd) identifying "high risk" activities and areas within <br /> <br />and among the City's overall operations, citing the exposure and potential for <br /> <br />accidents and injuries not only among and to City employees but also the <br /> <br />general public. <br /> <br />Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted by Council <br /> <br />at its forthcoming August 12th regular meeting on a petition filed by Messrs. <br /> <br />Earle W. Greene and Bobby Nicholston seeking the rezoning of Lot A situated at <br /> <br /> <br />the northeast corner of Cherry Street (at its intersection with East Church <br /> <br /> <br />Street) from C-3 Commercial to M-1 Industrial and, also, Lots Nos. 17 through <br /> <br />24 fronting the east side of Cherry Street from R-9 Residential to M-l <br /> <br /> <br />Industrial. In so doing, Council acknowledged receipt of the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's recommendation that Council approve said petition. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />After conducting an annual review of the Special-Use Permit issued by Council <br /> <br />to The Exchange Club of Martinsville under date of April 23, 1985, to allow for <br />the conduct/sponsorship by said Exchange Club of the Henry County Fair for the <br />years 1935 through 1989, Council unanimously continued said permit in force for <br /> <br />the year 1986, i.e., for the 1986 Henry County Fair at Liberty Heights <br /> <br />Fairgrounds during the period August 27th-September 1st, inclusive. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the <br /> <br />following resolution which urges the United States Congress to retain within <br /> <br />proposed tax reform bills the current law allowing financial institutions to <br /> <br />deduct eighty percent (80%) of the interest paid on borrowing used to purchase <br /> <br />.,... . <br /> <br />33~ <br />
