<br />TUESDAY, MAY 12, 1987 <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />through May 16th, 1987, as "Industrial Appreciation Week" in Martinsville and Henry <br /> <br />County: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville and County of Henry greatly depend on our <br />local industries for financial support; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, our local industries supply the vast majority of employment for <br />our citizens, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this community was built and fostered by our local industries and <br />their contributions; and <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is a great appreciation held by our local governments not <br />only for the financial support, but also for the community involvement and <br />dedication as shown by the corporate investment of time, money and energy <br />into our community; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that by Joint Resolution of the Henry County <br />Board of Supervisors and the Martinsville City Council that the Week of May <br />10 through 16 is hereby declared "Industrial Appreciation Week" in <br />Martinsville and Henry County. <br /> <br />In accordance with the requirements of subsections (a)(l) and (a)(6) of Section <br /> <br />2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br />Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering nominees for appointment or <br /> <br />reappointment to certain boards and commissions and (2) a legal matter in consul- <br /> <br />tation with legal counsel. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no <br /> <br />action on the legal matter considered in Executive Session; however, upon motions, <br /> <br />duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council reappointed Mr. J. A. Gustin to mem- <br /> <br />bership on the City's Board of Appeals for a five-year term beginning May 12, 1987, <br /> <br />and, also, reappointed Vice-Mayor Williams to the Board of Commissioners of the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission for a three-year term which begins July 1, <br /> <br />1987. <br /> <br />Mayor Oakes then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />W.
