Council Member <br /> <br />Lawson asked if we could also begin collecting names of citizens that would like <br /> <br />to serve on the design committee. The Clerk was directed to contact the <br /> <br />interested citizens and ask which committee they wanted to serve on and to <br /> <br />advertise for both committees on MGTV22. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins, City Manager, <br /> <br />indicated that a first meeting of the Steering Committee has been scheduled for <br /> <br />Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in his office and anyone is invited to <br /> <br />attend. <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill made a motion that the gate at Wilson Park be <br /> <br />unlocked from sunup to sundown for 30 days; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5-0. Yeas (5) <br /> <br />_ Reynolds, Clark, Anderson, Ferrill, Lawson. Nays (0). <br /> <br />Council next considered entering into an agreement with the Lester <br /> <br />Group to partially reimburse private expenditures for improvements to <br /> <br />Franklin Street. City Attorney Monday gave a brief overview concerning the <br /> <br />planned improvements to Commonwealth Centre and the need to relocate and <br /> <br />improve a portion of Franklin Street. The City has been asked to enter into a <br /> <br />Performance Agreement with The Lester Group and to reimburse an amount <br />
