<br />48 <br /> <br />August 22, 2006 <br /> <br />Mayor Reynolds reminded Council of the ribbon cutting for the Dental Clinic on <br /> <br />Friday, August 25, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins thanked Geri Ridenhour for her comments concerning Wilson <br /> <br />Park indicating that he has met or received comments from several groups and <br /> <br />individuals about the future of Wilson Park. He recommended to Council that <br /> <br />a Steering Committee be appointed to begin the process of planning for the <br /> <br />future of the Park. He recommended the following members: Robert Collins, <br /> <br />Tim Gette of VMNH; Scott Kizner, School Superintendent; a representative of <br /> <br />the YMCA, PAA and MURA and a citizen. <br /> <br />After questions and discussion, <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill made a motion that the Steering Committee be <br /> <br />appointed as recommended; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br /> <br />following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5-0. Yeas (5) - Reynolds, Clark, <br /> <br />Anderson, Ferrill, Lawson. Nays (0) - None. Citizens were encouraged to <br /> <br />express their interest in serving on the Committee by contacting the City <br /> <br />Manager's Office or a member of Council. Council will appoint the citizen <br /> <br />representative at their Special Called Meeting on August 29 at 1 :30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins also gave the following updates to Council: <br /> <br />. On the request from Habitat for Humanity to remove the moratorium <br />on granting tax-exempt status; after review, it was discovered that <br />their properties would not qualify and he recommends that Council <br />not remove the moratorium at this time. <br /> <br />. Have received three responses to RFQ for cable system operations <br />management-CityCom Group, Cable Systems Services, Inc. (CS2) <br />and Orotek Broadband, Inc. and will review each and make a <br />
