M Martinsville

City Council
Agenda Summary

Meeting Date:
Item No:
Department:
Issue:

September 26,2006
2. A.

Customer Service

Nominees for the 2006 Third-Quarter Service Excellence
Award and announcement of Quarterly Winner

Summary:

The Service Excellence Award program was developed by the Customer Service
Committee to provide an incentive for delivering excellent customer service.
Nominees were recognized and the winner was announced at the City
Manager's staff meeting earlier this week.

At this Council meeting, a brief video will be shown highlighting each nominee.
We are proud of the strong work ethic of these exceptional employees and
special congratulations go to Scott Collins (Public Works) as third quarter
winner and to other nominees: Jason Biggs (Public Works), Brian Roberts
(Public Works), Jo Jo Hundley (Leisure Services), and Clyde Jones (Leisure
Services).

Brief description of the Service Excellence program: Each quarter, members of
the Customer Service Committee (who are exempt from the award) meet to
score the nominations submitted by other employees. The four quarterly
winners are then eligible for the Annual Service Excellence Award given at the
end of the year. To date, 127 employees are among those in this elite group of
nominees. City employees have the opportunity to nominate other employees
who they feel deserve to be recognized for going the extra mile in creating a
positive & productive working atmosphere by submitting a written, signed
statement giving examples as to why that employee should be recognized.

Attachments:

None

Recommendations: No action required
