The current Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company was organized on September 07, 1949

John D. 'Jack" Bouldin joined the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company in December 1955.

With more than 30 years of active membership, he served as President in 1959 and was
Company Treasurer for many years.
For those who remember the Firemen's Bazaar that was held on Brown Street Field in the
1950's and 60's - Jack served as co-chairman many times and could always be found at the
Bingo Tent or assisting Louis Compton with the auction.
After his active membership, Jack continued to work with the Volunteers in many of our
endeavors, especially the Toll Gates and was always available to provide his insight and
experience on proposed Company activities. His friendship is greatly missed.

At the 60th Annual Southwest Virginia Firefighters Association Convention
Memorial Service held on Friday June 16th, 2006 at St. Paul United Methodist Church
in Christinasburg, Virginia;
John D. 'Jack' Bouldin of the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company
was one of eleven firefighters from the Southwest Association to be remembered at
the Memorial service, a statue with an engraved plaque was present in his memory.

"Southwest Virginia Firefighters Association
In Memory of
John D. "Jack" Bouldin
Martinsville Fire Department"
