<br />May 9, 2006 <br /> <br />jurisdictions. They are currently seeking funding from the U.S. Department of <br /> <br />Agriculture, Rural Development Office, for the construction of a central <br /> <br /> <br />professional office building in Rocky Mount, similar to the Clay Street <br /> <br /> <br />(Martinsville) facility, which requires that the community services board be the <br /> <br /> <br />long-term guarantor of the loan. The Resolution will be placed on the next <br /> <br /> <br />agenda for Council's approval. <br /> <br />Jim Tobin also discussed authorizing the City Manager to sign a letter of <br /> <br />support for Piedmont Community Services' plans to build a residence for adults <br /> <br />with mental retardation at 1800 Spruce Street. Piedmont Community Services <br /> <br /> <br />will be submitting a grant application on May 26 to HUD for funding for the <br /> <br /> <br />project and Council endorsement is sought to specifically address HUD funding <br /> <br /> <br />criteria. After questions and discussion, the letter of support was carried over <br /> <br />to the next Council meeting for approval. <br /> <br />Council next discussed a Resolution to be adopted authorizing the West <br /> <br />Piedmont Planning District Commission to develop an application for water <br /> <br /> <br />supply planning grant funds and to develop a regional water supply plan which <br /> <br /> <br />will meet mandated regulations. John Dyches, Water Resources Director, gave <br /> <br /> <br />a brief explanation and the item will be placed on the next agenda. <br /> <br />Council considered scheduling FY07 budget work seSSIOns as follows: <br /> <br />Thursday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m.; Monday, May <br /> <br />22 at 6:30 p.m. and following the May 23 regular Council meeting.
