<br />April 25, 2006 <br /> <br />Environmental Quality-Mayor Cobbe; Finance-Council Member Ferrill; <br /> <br />General Laws-City Manager Collins; Human Development and Education- <br /> <br />Council Member Clark and Transportation-Vice Mayor Reynolds; the motion <br /> <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, all members voting: Vote: <br /> <br />5-0. Yeas: (5) - Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays: (0)- None. <br /> <br />Council next considered approving the submission of an application for <br /> <br />$2,000 by the Police Department for a $2,000 National Consumers League <br /> <br />Stipend. Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the application; the motion <br /> <br />was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, all members voting: Vote: <br /> <br />5-0. Yeas: (5) - Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays: (0)- None. <br /> <br />Council Member Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution <br /> <br />recognizing April as Fair Housing Month and expressing the City's pledge to <br /> <br />provide equal housing opportunities for all citizens; the motion was duly <br /> <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, all members voting: Vote: 5-0. <br /> <br />Yeas: (5) - Cobbe, Reynolds, Roop, Ferrill, Clark. Nays: (0)- None. <br /> <br />FAIR HOUSING RESOLUTION <br />OF THE <br />MARTINSVILLE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville strives to promote principles of Equal Housing Opportunity by <br />prohibiting discrimination practices in the sale, rental and financing of housing and in implementing <br />its housing and community development programs in a manner to affirmatively further the purposes <br />ofthe fair housing laws; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the basis for discrimination outlawed by the federal and state fair housing acts are race, <br />color, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, age and familial status; and <br />
