O. Box 1112 Martinsville, Virginia 24112 Dear Dan: At the May 23, 2006 Board of Supervisors meeting, there was a discussion concerning the provision of water and sewer services to the community. The Board adopted a motion requesting the City Council to participate in an independent analysis to determine if a regional water and sewer authority is the most responsible and cost effective way to serve the community with water and sewer services. The Henry County Public Service Authority Board of Directors at its meeting on June 19th adopted a motion supporting such an analysis. A similar request was made in 2004; however, City Council declined to participate at that time. Both communities have under utilized capacity. Water and sewer services are the second most expensive public service provided in the County, trailing only education. It is also one of the leading cost centers for the City, While our communities have cooperated in prOVISIOn of water and sewer service, we need to be thinking about the utility solution that is
