Urgent community development needs The Virginia CDBG Program · Serves Non-Entitlement localities in Virginia · Administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development · Community Improvement Grant (CIG) Options Competitive Grants Funding is available on a competitive basis with a fixed deadline of March 22,2006 Construction-Ready Water and Sewer Fund Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 Community Economic Development Fund Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 Community Development Innovation Fund Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 Urgent Need Open Submission (UNOS) Grants Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 10/31/06 · Planning Grants will be awarded on an open basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 Competitive Grants Five primary project types under the Competitive CIG option: I. Comprehensive Community Development 2. Economic Development 3. Housing 4. Community Facility 5. Community Service Facility CIG Funding · Anticipated HUD allocation for FY2006 $19,090,141 · $15,502,589 for 2005 Community Improvement Grants ~ $8,252,589 for Competitive Grants ~ $2,500,000 Community Economic Development Fund ~ $2,250,000 Community Development Innovation Fund ~ $1,500,000 Urgent Need Open Submission Projects ~ $1,000,000 Construction-Ready Water and Sewer Fund · Remainder of funds for projects awarded grants in prior years; planning grants and state administration of the program · Localities are lirnited to $2.5 million in open CDBG contracts.
