Urgent community development needs <br /> <br />The Virginia CDBG Program <br />· Serves Non-Entitlement localities in Virginia <br />· Administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development <br />· Community Improvement Grant (CIG) Options <br />Competitive Grants <br />Funding is available on a competitive basis with a fixed deadline of March 22,2006 <br />Construction-Ready Water and Sewer Fund <br />Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 <br />Community Economic Development Fund <br />Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 <br />Community Development Innovation Fund <br />Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 <br />Urgent Need Open Submission (UNOS) Grants <br />Funding is available on an open, first-come, first-served basis from 1/3/06 to 10/31/06 <br />· Planning Grants will be awarded on an open basis from 1/3/06 to 9/30/06 <br /> <br />Competitive Grants <br />Five primary project types under the Competitive CIG option: <br />I. Comprehensive Community Development <br />2. Economic Development <br />3. Housing <br />4. Community Facility <br />5. Community Service Facility <br /> <br />CIG Funding <br />· Anticipated HUD allocation for FY2006 $19,090,141 <br />· $15,502,589 for 2005 Community Improvement Grants <br />~ $8,252,589 for Competitive Grants <br />~ $2,500,000 Community Economic Development Fund <br />~ $2,250,000 Community Development Innovation Fund <br />~ $1,500,000 Urgent Need Open Submission Projects <br />~ $1,000,000 Construction-Ready Water and Sewer Fund <br />· Remainder of funds for projects awarded grants in prior years; planning grants and state <br />administration of the program <br />· Localities are lirnited to $2.5 million in open CDBG contracts. <br />
