<br />-, <br />i <br />~.L .3.. <br /> <br />October 11 , 2005 <br /> <br />October and the next regular Council meeting will be the November 8, 2005 <br /> <br />work session at 1 :00 p.m. <br /> <br />City Manager Collins announced that the City, in conjunction with the <br /> <br />Chamber, would have an Energy Efficiency seminar on November 3,2005 from <br /> <br />11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Council Chambers. Matt Hankins, Communications <br /> <br />Manager, indicated that it would be re-run on MGTV 22 on a later date. The <br /> <br />re-opening of Liberty Street has been delayed somewhat due to the recent <br /> <br />weather. Funding to repair the Starling Avenue bridge has been received and <br /> <br />the City's share will be taken out of our transportation budget over a two-year <br /> <br />period and city staff is working with the schools to replace a drainpipe at <br /> <br />Patrick Henry Elementary School. Mr. Collins commended City employees for <br /> <br />going over their United Way goal of $16,500.00. <br /> <br />City Manager Collins brought up a request from the Historical Society <br /> <br />concerning the demolition of the Henry County Court annex (behind old <br /> <br />courthouse). They have received some funding for this project and would like a <br /> <br />waiver or reduction in the tipping fee at the landfill. Council unanimously <br /> <br />agreed to allow the reduction of the fee from the regular gate rate to a rate that <br /> <br />covers costs plus five percent (5%) administrative fee. <br /> <br />Mr. Collins reminded Council that in conjunction with VML Conference <br /> <br />in Richmond, there would be a meeting of the Virginia First Cities Coalition at <br /> <br />3:00 p.m. on October 23, 2005 in the Richmond Convention Center. <br />
