<br />August23,2005 <br /> <br />A regular monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, was held on August 23, 2005, in Council Chamber, Municipal <br /> <br />Building, beginning at 7:30 P. M., with Mayor Joe Cobbe presiding. Council <br /> <br />Members present included: Joseph R. Cobbe, Mayor; Kimble Reynolds, Jr., <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; and Council Members James W. Clark, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry <br /> <br />L. Roop. <br /> <br />Following the invocation by Council Member Clark and Pledge to the <br /> <br /> <br />American Flag, Mayor Cobbe welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br />Council considered the presentation of a Proclamation declaring the week <br /> <br /> <br />of September 11-17, 2005 as Assisted Living Week at the request of Ralph <br /> <br /> <br />Lawson, Marketing Director for the Blue Ridge Manor. Mayor Cobbe made the <br /> <br /> <br />presentation. <br /> <br />Council also considered the presentation of a Proclamation declaring the <br /> <br /> <br />fourth Monday in September as National Family Day-A Day to Eat Dinner <br /> <br /> <br />With Your Children. Mayor Cobbe made such presentation to Katie Connelly, <br /> <br /> <br />Community Organizer for Prevention, Piedmont, who made brief comments. <br /> <br />Council Member Ferrill moved to approve the minutes of the April 12 and <br /> <br /> <br />26, May 24, June 13 and 28 and July 26, 2005 meetings as presented; the <br /> <br /> <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members <br />
