<br />August 9, 2005 <br /> <br />The undersigned Clerk of the City Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia hereby <br />certifies that the foregoing constitutes a true and correct extract from the minutes of a meeting of <br />the City Council held on August 9, 2005, and of the whole thereof so far as applicable to the <br />matters referred to in such extract. I hereby further certify that such meeting was a regularly <br />called meeting and that, during the consideration of the foregoing Ordinance, a quorum was <br />present. <br /> <br />Dated this _ day of <br /> <br />,2005. <br /> <br />Clerk, City Council of <br />City of Martinsville, Virginia <br /> <br />Council next received an update on the LibertyjClearview intersection <br /> <br />project. Leon Towarnicki, Public Works Director, briefly summarized the phase <br /> <br />of the project that entailed the replacement of two major culverts, one under <br /> <br />Northside Drive and one under Liberty Street. During this time, a portion of <br /> <br />Liberty Street will be closed from September 6 to October 7 with all traffic <br /> <br />routed to Northside Drive. After Liberty Street is reopened, all of Northside <br /> <br />Drive will be closed for an approximate 3D-day period from mid-October to mid- <br /> <br />November. Mayor Cobbe mentioned a problem with truck traffic and difficulty <br /> <br />in turning and wondered if it is possible to prohibit truck traffic while the <br /> <br />culverts are being replaced. Mr. Towarnicki said it probably could be restricted <br /> <br />to a certain extent with through truck traffic, but not with those trucks that <br /> <br />have deliveries in the immediate area. Council Member Roop also mentioned <br /> <br />that we need to be mindful of residents who live in the affected area and the <br />
