March 22, 2005 <br /> <br /> A regular, monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was <br />held on Mamh 22, 2005, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning at 7;30 P. <br />M., with Mayor Joe Cobbe presiding. Council Members present included: Joseph R. <br />Cobbe, Mayor; Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Vice Mayor; and Council Members James W. <br />Clark, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Clark and Pledge to the American <br />Flag, Mayor Cobbe welcomed everyone to lhe meeting. <br /> <br /> Council considered recognizing lhe nominees for the 2005 First-Quarter Sen/ice <br />Excellence Award and announcement of Quarterly Winner, Robert R. Collins, City <br />Manager, recognized Beverly France, Utility Billing; Dan Howell, Fire; Keith Hudson, <br />Fire; and Mike Martin, Public Works. Mr. Howell was named the Quarterly Winner. <br /> <br /> Council considered recognizing the 2004 Quarterly Winners eligible for the 2004 <br />Annual Sen/ice Excellence Award and announcement of Annual Winner. City Manager <br />Collins recognized Brian Mabe, Public Works; Steve Cannaday, Public Works; Robin <br />Legus, Purchasing; and Linda Conover, Finance. Mr. Mabe was named the Annual <br />Winner. <br /> <br /> Council considered the presentation of a Proclamation declaring April 15, 2005, <br />as Positive Choices for Youth Day in the City of Martinsville. Mayor Cobbe made such <br />presentation. Katie Connelly, Community Organizer for Prevention of Piedmont <br />Community Sen/ices, announced a youth rally regarding such on Friday, April 15, 2005, <br />at Patrick Henry Community College. <br /> <br /> Council considered the presentation of a Proclamation declaring April 2, 2005, as <br />Read to a Child Day in the City of Martinsville. Mayor Cobbe made such presentation to <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br /> <br />
