March 8, 2005 <br /> <br /> A work session meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was <br />held on March 8, 2005, in Council Chamber, Municipal Building, beginning at 1:00 P. <br />M., with Mayor Joe Cobbe presiding. Council Members present included: Joseph R. <br />.Cobbe, Mayor; Kimble Reynolds, Jr., Vice Mayor; and Council Members James W. <br /> <br /> Clark, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Robert R. Collins, City Manager, stated that the following individuals would be <br /> <br />recognized at the March 22"d regular meeting: <br /> <br /> Nominees for the 2005 First-Quarter Service Excellence Award and <br /> announcement of Quarterly Winner <br /> · 2004 Quarterly Winners eligible for the 2004 Annual Service Excellence <br /> Award and announcement of Annual Winner <br /> · City employees receiving Service Awards from January to March 2005 <br /> <br /> Matthew Hankins, Communications Manager, and Doug Gibson, General <br />Manager of the Martinsville Mustangs, presented an update regarding the baseball <br />franchise. <br /> <br /> Danny Fore, Chief Executive Officer of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic <br />Development Corporation, presented an update. An implementation timeline, ethics <br />policy, and organizational chart have been created and adopted. A discussion ensued <br />regarding strategies, efforts, property inventory, grant funding, the Rives Road site, and <br />the Clearview Industrial Park. <br /> <br /> Wade Bartlett, Director of Finance & General Services, presented the financial <br />report for month ending January 31,2005 and the audit report for FY04. <br /> <br /> Brenda Prillaman, Customer Service, presented the quarterly neighborhood <br />focus report for the Northside/Chatham Heights area. <br /> <br /> <br />
