Date: 2-08-05 City Council Agend Smmnm'y Age. ada Item: Consider approval of the City's prioritized list of projects to be Included In the Year 2005 Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strate~ and authorizing the City Manager to provide this Information to the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration All localities within the West Piedmont Planning District adopt a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy each year. 'rhes~ project lists are then combined into a consolidated list for the WPPDC. This is necessary for the WPPDC to maintain Its status as a federal Economic Development Administration Economic Development District. The projects Included on the list are to. be endorsed by City Council so they will be eligible for EDA fun. ding If the City should elect to go forward with any of the projects. This is a list of potential projects that poslUons them for EDA funding, but Is not a commitment to go forward. That would require separate action on the part of City Council. We need to respond back to WPPDC by February 11: therefore, we need to take action on this item at the work session. Recommended Council Action: Motion to approve City's prioritized list of projects and authorize the City Manager to provide same to the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Economic Development Administration.
