Cost and Capacity of a proposed Regional Jail serving Pittsylvania. Danville and Patrick <br /> <br />Franklin County Addition to the Proposed Regional Jail <br /> <br />The details related to the Franklin Jail capacity and the forecast were detailed in the report titled <br />Cost and Capacity of a proposed Regional Jail serving Pittsylvania, Franklin, Henry, and Patrick <br />Counties and the Cities of Danville and Martinsville. The operating capacity of the Franklin Jail, <br />as established by the Department of Corrections, is 49. The Jail has 70 permanent beds, <br />however, the Jail has inadequate program, medical, support services, and administrative areas <br />for the rated capacity and is undersized for the number of incarcerated inmates. The Franklin <br />County Jail is in good condition and with normal maintenance should provide many years of <br />additional use.
