Shirley Barlow, of College Street, expressed concerns that her friend's house on <br />Park Street has not been repaired, yet. She expressed, also, concerns that the Fire <br />Department does not have a doorbell and the Municipal Building does not have <br />sufficient handicap parking. These concerns were noted by Administration and Staff. <br /> <br /> Council continued discussion of the proposed merger of the Henry County Parks <br />and Recreation Department and the City's Leisure Services Department. City Manager <br />Collins highlighted the events leading up to this point. Council Member Clark stated that <br />he had not "seen anything from Henry County indicating whether they wanted it or not" <br />and that a more professional study is needed. Council Member Roop stated that he felt <br />that the two localities are getting away from cooperative efforts with a "group mania to <br />just merge them!" He recommended that the following three questions be answered <br />prior to any action: (1) Where does Henry County stand? (2) Can the two programs be <br />merged to be beneficial to both localities? (3) Can the merger be done equitably? Vice <br />Mayor Reynolds stated that Henry County appears to be in favor, as quoted in the <br />Martinsville Bulletin.
